SYRACUSE, NY -- Following tradition, the third week of competition in the New York State Rugby Conference (NYSRC) has provided some clear cut frontrunners in the race for the league playoffs.

Syracuse and Rochester continued their push for the top sport in Division III Club Men, as they both improved to 4-0 after convincing wins on the weekend. Syracuse completely dominated Lockport, 81-0, while Rochester handled Genesee, 49-26. The teams are on course for their meeting in the final weekend of the regular season.

In other Division III Club Men's action, Cortland-Homer topped Binghamton, 24-11, to even its record at 2-2.

Collegiate Men’s Premier Division I saw Cornell hand Buffalo its first loss of the season, 41-3. Cornell remains atop the standings at 3-0, while Buffalo falls to 2-1. Syracuse kept pace with a 35-5 win over Brockport to improve to 2-1. RPI topped Canisius, 15-10, to pick up its first win of the season.

The Men’s Division II standings continue to be a logjam, with separation not likely to occur until the final weekend of the regular season. In Empire East play, Albany moved to 2-1 with a 23-6 victory over local rival Union. Geneseo remained undefeated at 2-0 with a 19-0 blanking of Buffalo State (2-1), while Hobart went to 2-1 with a 14-0 win over RIT.

Cortland and Potsdam remain tied atop the Excelsior East III standings. Potsdam improved to 3-0 on the season with a hard-fought 10-5 victory over rival Clarkson, while Cortland went to 2-0 with a 12-0 win against St. Lawrence.

In Excelsior East III, Rochester continues to roll along, improving to 3-0 with a 27-7 decision against Niagara. St. Bonaventure kept pace with a 26-17 win over Alfred, improving to 2-0.

In the second week of play in Collegiate Women Premier, Syracuse looks to make a solid run at Cornell for the regular-season title. Syracuse went to 2-0 with an impressive 31-0 win over Ithaca. Union shutout Buffalo, 15-0, as both teams went to 1-1 on the season.

Adirondack Division II saw leaders RPI and St. Lawrence meet. St. Lawrence became the first club to score on RPI in the regular season in over a year and a half, but could not hang on, as RPI went on to a 10-5 victory. RPI is now tied with Albany, a 24-12 winner over Plattsburgh, at 2-0. St. Lawrence fell to 2-1.

Brockport stands atop Western Division II at 3-0 following its 44-0 blanking of Alfred. St. John Fisher is a half-game back at 2-0. Fisher was a 24-0 winner over Fredonia, which fell to 2-1. Buffalo State also improved to 2-1 with a tough 26-20 win over Niagara.

Colgate and Oneonta, both unbeaten coming in, met on Saturday in Finger Lakes DII. Oneonta claimed a 22-10 win to improve to 2-0, while Colgate falls to 2-1. Cornell B is now tied atop the standings at 2-0, following its 43-0 shutout of William Smith.
