Aardvark Stalwart Rick Caufield Passes Away
Aardvark Stalwart Rick Caufield Passes Away - Mar 16, 2011
Former Niagara Univ. / Aardvark Player
Rick Caufield passed away after a six year battle with ALS. Rick began his Rugby career at Niagara University before returning home to enjoy a stellar career with the Rochester Aardvarks. He was a mainstay with the Aardvarks throughout the 1980/s and well into the 1990/s anchoring the middle of the backline for better than 15 years.
As an undersized center he was feared for his tenacity and heart. His speed and toughness were on display always as both a scorer and feared tackler. He was the leader of a talented backline throughout his career with the Aardvarks.
Rick spent 30 years with O’Connell Electric as a project manager and leaves his wife Lori and two children, Shannon and Ryan. Ryan has continued the legacy as a Rugby player for both McQuaid High School and now at Xavier University.
Arrangements are available at Anthony Chapels.
