NYS Champion to Receive No. 1 Seed in East Region

2011 USA Rugby Men’s College Division I Championship

Albany, NY -- USA Rugby announced this afternoon the 16 playoff teams for the 2011 Men's College Division I Championship. NYS Rugby has been awarded the No. 1 seed in the East Region, paired with No. 2 Ivy League, No. 3 New England and No. 4 Met NY.

NYS Rugby will be represented by its 2010 Regular Season champion. Currently, Syracuse and Buffalo stand atop the standings with 4-0 records, prior to the two sides meeting this weekend (Oct. 9) in Syracuse. With three weeks left in the season, this game will have a major impact on which club wins the NYS title.

East Region
1 New York State champion
2 Ivy League champion
3 New England champion
4 Met New York champion

Mideast Region 1 Midwest East champion 2 South champion 3 Atlantic Coast champion 4 Eastern Pennsylvania champion Midwest Region
1 Midwest West champion
2 Texas champion
3 Central champion
4 Midwest East runner-up

West Region
1 Northern California champion
2 Northwest champion
3 Southern California champion
4 West champion

First round match-ups will have the No. 1 seed facing No. 4 and No. 2 facing No. 3. The day one winners will meet on day two with the winner of that match advancing to the championship round. Consolation matches will be played as in the past.

National Semifinals - May 13
