Women's U23 Camp Held this Sunday at RPI
On Sunday, March 21, the second of two NYS U23 Women's Development Camps will be held on the RPI campus in Troy.
The event will take place from 9:45am to 3:00pm, with a break for lunch and classroom discussion. Directions to Harkness Field (turf) have been emailed to all team contacts. Players are expected to arrive with proper rugby attire (cleats, rugby shorts, jersey, mouth guard, etc.), plenty of weather appropriate gear, lunch, snacks and water.
The day's schedule will include:
* Rucking
* Tackling
* Continuity
* Ball Handling
* Positional Skills
* Unit Skills - Forwards & Backs
* Possible Controlled Scrimmage
ALL NYS COLLEGE PLAYERS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURRAGED TO ATTEND.
These camps will be the primary selection tool to determine the 2010 NYS U23 team to compete in the NRU U23 Tournament on April 25. Candidates should attend at least one of the open camps (Buffalo and/or Albany) to be considered.
Participants are asked to pre-register by contacting Head Coach Mike Kusiek at nysu23@hotmail.com and/or Red Huber rugbyred13@aol.com.
Attendees may be selected to participate an extensive camp in Syracuse on Sunday, April 11, in preparation the NRU U23 Tournament on Sunday, April 25, in Amherst, Massachusetts.
Those interested must meet the following requirements:
* Must be 22 years of age, or younger, on January 1, 2010
* Must be CIPP registered with USA Rugby
* Must be able to attend assemblies on April 11 in Syracuse and the NRU U23 Tournament on April 25
Coaches are very welcome to attend and observe.
