2009 Game Management Meetings

NYS Rugby will host its second and final 2009 Game Management Meeting in Rochester - this will be to acclimate players, coaches and referees to changes in rugby law. The session will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 9 at the RIT Inn & Conference Center (W. Henrietta). Registration begins at 6:30 and the meeting will run from 7-9pm.

** Every member club within NYS Rugby is REQUIRED to be represented at one (1) of the two meetings. If your club is not represented at the meeting, it will lose one (1) point in the league standings.

All active referees are also required to attend one of these meetings.

The Game Management Meeting replaces the Fall League Meeting, traditionally held the Sunday after Labor Day.

GAME MANAGEMENT MEETING
USA Rugby Referees’ management has established guidelines to refereeing at all levels in USA Rugby. These guidelines enable players and referees to have a clearer approach to the game, to enable consistency in Law application throughout the country. They also reflect directives from the iRB, particularly in relation to the tackle/ruck, and players staying on their feet.

The purpose of these sessions is to present our interpretation of current law and explain how the law will be applied throughout our conference. This is a unique opportunity for players, coaches and referees to have a defined approach to the game, particularly in relation to the tackle/ruck/MAUL and players staying on their feet.

Discussions will be based on the USA Rugby Game Management Guidelines published in February 2009.
