Buffalo Rugby Club Awards Scholarships

The Buffalo Rugby Club is proud to announce the winners of its first ever high school rugby scholarships, Connor Hoover of Orchard Park HS and Jon Garbin of Kenmore West HS.

Connor and Jon were selected from an excellent field of high school seniors who displayed excellence on and off the field.

Buffalo Rugby Club recognizes the growing popularity of rugby in the area and especially in the high school ranks. Buffalo Rugby Club also recognizes the achievements of local players on and off the field. It is our hope that this scholarship fund will help them continue on the path of excellence as scholars and athletes.

With this Scholarship initiative, Buffalo Rugby Club hopes to be at the forefront of legitimizing the sport of rugby within the entire Western New York community. With the increased involvement of players in area high schools and U-19 clubs, Buffalo Rugby Club's Scholarships look to reward the hard work and dedication of the athletes participating in a sport that is still emerging at the youth level.

It is the Club's intention to have annual scholarship awards to provide some financial assistance to promising players. Through this annual award, Buffalo Rugby hopes to garner increased community support for youth rugby, as well as provide young players with as much support from Buffalo Rugby Club as possible.

Connor will be attending Penn State in the fall and Jon will be attending St. Bonaventure. Again, congratulations to Connor, Jon and all of the other deserving applicants.
