WNY Collegiate Rugby Summer Player Development Program


Collegiate rugby players from Western New York are invited to participate in the WNY Summer Player Development Program. This program is the perfect way to improve your skills, fitness, and game awareness for the upcoming fall season.

Who: Any current or prospective men’s and women’s collegiate rugby players

When: Thursday evenings from 6:30 - 8:00 PM starting May 14th until July 30th

Where: John Kennedy School, 166 Vine Street in Batavia

* Fitness testing and tracking throughout the summer
* Individual skill development, positional and specialized skill development
* Unit concepts and principles
* Defensive organization and skills
* Utilizing a support model to improve your game
* Game awareness and decision making
* Competitive scrimmages and games will also be held!

The lead coaches for the WNY Summer Player Development Program are Mike Hodgins, Mark Kielbasa, and Clarence Picard. Their expertise will be supplemented by guest and specialist coaches throughout the summer.

Coach Hodgins is an IRB Licensed trainer, USA Rugby coach educator, Head coach of the Northeast Collegiate Men’s All Star program, and Men’s coach at Brockport College.

Coach Kielbasa is coach of the NYS U19’s and coach of the SUNY Brockport DI Women’s program.

Coach Picard coaches the NYS Collegiate All Stars, NYS U17, and St. Bonaventure University.
