NYS Rugby invites NYS Rugby coaches to participate in the High School Player Development Camp, to be held March 7-8 at the Fieldhouse at Ralph Wilson Stadium.

This will be a unique opportunity to receive the latest technical information from top international coaches and to receive four (4) CEU credits from USA Rugby toward ongoing coaching certification.

Now in its fifth year, this will prove to be an outstanding weekend for the NYS Rugby community and will feature additional educational opportunities for all participating coaches.

The camp will be led by John Williams and Gareth Nichols from the Welsh Rugby Union and George Betzler from USA Rugby.

We are also proud to announce the addition of Gary Townsend, RFU National Coaching Development Manager. Townsend is responsible for delivering coach education throughout England and will bring a unique perspective to the program. He is one of the true innovators and leaders in this approach to coaching and will share his insights throughout the weekend.

This year’s camp will emphasize the areas of athlete-centered coaching, teaching through the use of games and developing game sense in rugby players.

All coaches participating will have plenty of opportunities to roll up their sleeves and get involved with their coaching colleagues. This will provide the chance to share ideas and learn together while delivering the highest quality program to our young players.

The weekend will kick off on Friday evening with our annual coach’s seminar, which will be held at the Holiday Inn in Hamburg (5440 Camp Road, Hamburg). The seminar will run from 6:30–8:00pm. The seminar proves to be a lively and thought-provoking session and it is sure to be once again. Saturday's program will run from 10am to 4pm and Sunday from 10am to 3pm.

At the completion of the weekend coaches will receive a voucher worth four CEU (Continuing Education Units) toward their ongoing coaching certification.

There is no cost to participate in the weekend but coaches MUST PRE-REGISTER. To register, or for more information, contact Mike Hodgins at mhodgins@usarugby.org.
