Hamilton at Colgate is Game of the Week

SYRACUSE, NY -- New York State Rugby (NYS Rugby) completed it second full week of play on Sunday, as 75 clubs are vying for playoff spots in 11 divisions in men's club, and men's and women's collegiate play.

In men's club play, Syracuse improved to 3-0 as it ran past the Barracks Rangers, 38-17. Barracks (2-1) makes a return to the conference this season. Buffalo (3-0) kept pace with Syracuse, topping Lockport by a decisive, 57-5, margin.

In Collegiate Men's Premier Division I play, Buffalo and Syracuse both remained a perfect 2-0. Buffalo earned a 41-7 win over Canisius, while Syracuse outlasted Albany, 39-27.

Collegiate Women's Division I finds traditional power Buffalo tied atop the standings with Syracuse, both at 2-0. Syracuse cruised to a 55-7 win over Binghamton on Saturday, while Buffalo played a tight match with Brockport, earning a 14-5 win. Cornell shutout Ithaca, 53-0, to pick up its first win of the season.

Collegiate Men's Division II East features Colgate and Hamilton atop the standings, both off to 2-0 starts. Colgate ran past RPI, 32-3, while Hamilton was a 46-5 winner over Hamilton. The teams meet this Saturday in Hamilton, NY, for what should prove to be the best game of the young 2008 campaign.

In Collegiate Men's DII West, Geneseo is off to a 3-0 start, followed by St. Bonaventure at 2-0. Geneseo handed Fredonia its first loss of the season, 39-7, while Bonas was a decisive 61-0 winner over Niagara.

In Women's Division II East play, Hamilton and RPI both improved to 2-0. Hamilton got by Siena, 19-12, while RPI shutout Union, 25-0. Women's DII West finds Canisius and Buffalo State standing at 1-0. Canisius got past Cortland, 10-7, while Buffalo State was a Week 1 winner over Geneseo, 15-5.

Collegiate Men's DIII East is up for grabs between Clarkson, Paul Smiths and Potsdam. The division will play a round-robin schedule to determine playoff participants and it should go down to the final weekend of play. In the West, Oswego is 2-0 and looking strong. It was a 54-10 victor over UB D3.

In Collegiate Women's Division III action, Albany was a big winner over Potsdam, 55-0, to move to 2-0. Plattsburgh and Clarkson are right behind, both currently 1-0. In the West, St. John Fisher is 2-0 following a 15-0 win over Niagara. Le Moyne was a Week 1 winner over St. Bonaventure, and stands at 1-0.
