NYSRC Youth Season Gets Underway - May 1, 2003
SYRACUSE, NY -- The New York State Rugby Conference ushered in the opening weekend of the 2003 U-19 season with two matches. On the girls side, Fairport defeated Ithaca, 25-15, while Ithaca/Geneva downed Fairport, 12-5, on the boys side. Batavia and Geneva were also scheduled to meet in boys action.
"Our youth program is very important to the development of not only our union, but also the sport of rugby," said Mike Hodgins, NYSRC President. "We place a lot of emphesis on the development of our youth, and look forward to expanding our efforts in that area as we move along."
18 youth matches line the 2003 schedule, and features six boys clubs and three girls clubs. The schedule runs through May 18th.
