Now in its fifth year, the NYS Rugby Player Development Camp continues to be the perfect way for U-19 boys and girls and coaches to jumpstart their 2009 spring seasons.

Make sure to complete your registration TODAY! It is THE way to get ready for the upcoming season. Join us on March 7-8 in Orchard Park, NY, at the Fieldhouse at Ralph Wilson Stadium. This is sure to be a weekend you don't want to miss!


Instructors
In addition to instructors from NYS Rugby, the program boasts the experience of top coaches from the Welsh Rugby Union and USA Rugby. Providing a most unique experience for high school players will be lead instructors John Williams, Gary Townsend, George Betzler and Gareth Nichols.

Williams has been the Academy Manager for the Gwent Dragons and an IRB trainer that delivers courses all over Europe, and has served as head coach of the Wales Women's National Team and the Wales U19 team.

Gary Townsend is the RFU National Coaching Development Manager. Gary is Fully qualified RFU and IRB Coach Educator/Trainer and is a leader in game sense coaching and learning through conditioned games both tactical and technical aspects of rugby.

Betzler is the former USA National Team coach and has served in many different roles with USA Rugby over the last 20 years.

Gareth Nichols is currently the head of rugby Bridgend College (Welsh Schools Champions 2008) and has served as Gwent Dragons Academy Manager, Wales U19, Head coach Caerphilly RFC, and Head coach Ebbw Vale RFC.


Schedule
Registration will be on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. Player Camp sessions will run from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. All athletes and referees must exit the Field House no more than 30 minutes after the conclusion of the day's session.

Saturday, March 7
9:00 a.m.: Registration
10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.: Session I

Sunday, March 8
10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.: Session II


Player Camp schedule will include:
* Handling
* Continuity
* Positional Skills
* Unit Skills
* Game Organization
* Controlled Scrimmages

What to Bring
Each player should bring the following:
* Rugby jersey
* Rugby shorts or similar
* Flat-soled athletic shoes
* Athletic shoes appropriate for turf field
* Any appropriate headgear (camper)
* Lunch (camper)
* Water or sports drinks (camper)

** Note: Each camper is responsible for providing their own lunch both days


Player Camp Fees & Registration
Bring your team and save! Fees include tuition for camp and secondary insurance. Teams bringing up to twenty (20) players will be charged $300. Bring an unlimited amount of players for $500. Individual registrations will be charged $40 per player. Day-of registration will be charged $50 per player.
