NYS Rugby Announces Men's College League Changes
The New York State Rugby Conference Board of Directors has unanimously approved re-alignment of it's Men's College leagues. The new divisions will be in effect the start of the Fall 2008 season.
The Board also approved a mandatory promotion/relegation policy that will begin at the conclusion of the 2008 season. Division champions will be promoted, and last place teams will be relegated. Fall 2008 results will affect league placement for the Fall 2009 season.
Men's Premier (Division I)
Albany
Binghamton
Brockport
Buffalo
Canisius
Cornell
Cortland
Syracuse
All teams play all other teams in the division. The top 3 teams as determined by league standings and tie-break procedures will advance to the Northeast Territorial playoffs.
Men's Empire (Division II)
Eastern Conference
Plattsburgh
RPI
Siena
St. Lawrence
Union
Central Conference
Colgate
Hamilton
Hobart
Le Moyne
Rochester
Western Conference
Buffalo State
Fredonia
Geneseo
Niagara
St. Bonaventure
Each team plays all other teams in their conference, plus one cross-over match against a team from a different conference. The three conference winners and the highest ranked second place team advance to the NYS playoffs. Playoff teams will be seeded 1-4 based on league standings and tie-break procedures.
Men's Excelsior (Division III)
Eastern Conference
Clarkson
Oneonta
Paul Smiths
Potsdam
Western Conference
Buffalo C
St. John Fisher
Syracuse C
Oswego
Each team plays a home/away schedule against the other teams in their conference. The top two teams in each conference advance to the NYS playoffs. West #1 will host East #2, and East #1 will host West #2.
