NYS Rugby Coaches Association Formed - Nov 28, 2007

NYS Rugby is pleased to announce the formation of the NYS Rugby Coaches Association. The goal of the Association is to present coach development opportunities beyond those available from USA Rugby and to provide a network for communication between coaches within New York State. USA Rugby supports and encourages the development of local networks within geographical areas and will help facilitate programs and presentations for these organizations. With the new USA coaching certifications there will be ongoing currency requirements to stay certified. These continuing education requirements will be able to be met in part by participation in local events and programs. This will help coaches to meet these requirements at little or no cost to the individual. NYS Rugby will provide resources to support programs and presentations for our coaches. The goal of the Association will be to provide 2-3 programs or events per year across New York State on a variety of topics including specialist courses, guest speakers, presentations, or other opportunities that become available. The NYS Rugby Coaches Association will actively promote the goals and ideals of the Positive Coaching Alliance as a model for coach conduct and behavior, encouraging high professional standards. We will also facilitate communication between USA Rugby and local coaches on issues that can best be addressed as a single voice representing a geographic or demographic constituency. The Association will also give member clubs and teams an efficient way to publicize coaching opportunities and openings. Join today by subscribing to the following NYS Rugby Coaches News Group.
