NRU Announces Women's U19 Squad
Albany, N.Y. -- On Sunday, October 21, the Northeast Rugby Union held tryouts for the Women’s Under 19 squad that will defend there Championship in the NASC in Nashville, Tennessee in November.
“We had a tremendous field of players attend tryouts,” said Greg Fehrman, Head Coach of the NYS U-19. “There were 50 players and the coaches were able to make three squads and let the girls do what they do best, play rugby. The number of players selected from the New York State Rugby Conference is a credit to all of the players and coaches as this is a program that is in its infancy."
The players selected to the NRU U-19 team are as follows:
Elisa Decker (Cornell University)
Amber Curtis (Fairport High School)
Maddy Cocca (Saratoga Mustangs)
Hannah Gregor (Keystone)
Melissa DeAngelis (University at Buffalo)
Brittany Dowd (University at Buffalo)
Caitlin Koch (Canisius College)
Rachel Sachs (Syracuse University)
Brittani Shiflet (Keystone)
Alternates:
Leigh Cushing (Cornell University)
Jessica Drock (City Honors High School)
Geni Beninati (SUNY Geneseo)
Fehrman reiterated that any player interested in trying out for the NYS Women's U19 team for the summer season, should contact him at: gfehrman@cscos.com
