Now in its second year, the NYS Rugby Player Development Camp for college men and women and high school boys and girls is the perfect way for players and teams to start their 2006 season.
After enjoying outstanding participation in 2005, the Player Camp will once again cover the basic aspects of rugby along with the latest skills and laws from the international game. Participants will benefit from outstanding coaches from around the world and New York State ñ perfect for both new and experienced collegiate and high school players.
It is THE way to get ready for the upcoming season. Join us on March 4-5 in Rochester, NY - it is a weekend you don't want to miss!

Instructors
In addition to instructors from NYS Rugby, the program boasts the experience of top coaches from the Welsh Rugby Union and USA Rugby. Providing a most unique experience for high school and collegiate players will be lead instructors John Williams of the Welsh Rugby Union and George Betzler of USA Rugby. Williams, a WRU Level 4 coach, has served as head coach of the Wales Womenís National Team and the Wales U19 team. He is a certified IRB Trainer and currently leads the Gwent Dragons Academy in Gwent, Wales. Betzler is the former USA National Team coach and has served in many different roles with USA Rugby over the last 20 years. He is currently a USA coaching instructor and a member of the USA Rugby Technical panel.
Facilities
NYS Rugby will once again utilize Gordon Field House on the campus of Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). Perfect for the weekend program, Gordon Field House features a rubberized tartan surface, spacious classrooms and ample lockeroom space.
Schedule
Registration will be on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. Camp sessions will run from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. All athletes must be out of the field house no more than 30 minutes after the conclusion of the dayís session.
Saturday, March 4
9:00 a.m.: Registration
10:00 a.m. ñ 4:00 p.m.: Session I
Sunday, March 5
9:00 a.m. ñ 2:00 p.m.: Session II
The schedule will include:
ï Handling
ï Continuity
ï Positional Skills
ï Unit Skills
ï Game Organization
ï Controlled Scrimmages
What to Bring(Each player should bring the following):
ï Rugby jersey
ï Flat-soled athletic shoes
ï Rugby shorts or similar
ï Any appropriate headgear
ï Lunch
ï Water or sports drink
Please Note: Each camper will be responsible for their own lunch both days
Fees & Registration
Bring your team and save! Fees include tuition for camp and secondary insurance. Registrations are due by February 28, 2006 ó any registrations following, or day-of, will be charged $60 per player. Registration will be limited to the first 150 players!
1-5 players: $50 per player
5+ players from same club: $40 per player
Registration at event: $60 per player
