SYRACUSE, NY -- As the season moves deeper into October, positioning for the postseason comes at a premium in New York State Rugby (NYS Rugby).

Rochester and Syracuse continue to remain unbeaten atop Men's Club Division III. While Rochester had its bye week, Syracuse was running past Lockport, 59-20, to improve to 5-0. The teams square off in Syracuse next weekend in what has been the division's championship matchup for the past three years. In other action, Binghamton improved to 5-1 with a 31-14 win over Cortland-Homer (2-3), while South Buffalo moved into fourth place with a 54-24 victory over Genesee.

Collegiate Men's Premier Division I is still paced by Buffalo and Cornell, which both stand at 3-0-1. Cornell topped Binghamton, 34-8, on Wednesday, while Buffalo ran past RPI, 86-0. Syracuse improved to 3-1 after it outlasted Binghamton, 20-15. After going 0-2 on the week, Binghamton fell to fourth place at 2-2.

A four-way tie was reduced to three in Collegiate Men's Division II East this week as Albany, Colgate, and Cortland all improved to 3-1. Albany topped local-rival Union, 22-12, and in the process, dropped Union to fourth place in the division. Colgate defeated Le Moyne, 59-3, while Cortland blanked Siena, 79-0. In Division III West action, Rochester and Fredonia met in a game that will undoubtedly have playoff implications. Rochester outlasted Fredonia, 22-21, to improve to 4-0; Fredonia fell to second place at 3-1 after its first loss of the year. St. Bonaventure (3-1) remained in second place following its 15-0 win over Hobart.

Collegiate Men's Division III East play remains tight with Plattsburgh leading the way at 4-0, followed by Oneonta at 3-1 and St. Lawrence and Clarkson both at 2-2. Plattsburgh ran past Hamilton, 34-17, to stay unbeaten, while Oneonta slid past Clarkson, 5-0. St. Lawrence kept its playoff hopes alive with a 29-3 win over Paul Smiths.

In Collegiate Women's Division I action, Buffalo remains undefeated and atop the standing after its 42-0 blanking of Union. Cornell moved to 3-1 following an 84-0 romp over Binghamton, while Syracuse used a 31-12 win over Ithaca to improve to 2-2. After its tough loss to Syracuse, Ithaca rebounded on Sunday for a 16-5 victory over Binghamton to go to 2-2.

Collegiate Women's Division II East play finds RPI still atop the standings at 2-0-1, followed closely by St. Lawrence at 2-1 and Oneonta at 1-1-1. RPI topped Albany, 10-0, while St. Lawrence ran past Colgate, 27-5. Oneonta lost a great opportunity to remain in a tie for second with St. Lawrence when it tied Cortland, 0-0.

The standings remained unchanged after the top three teams compiled shutout wins in Collegiate Women's Division II West action. Fredonia improved to 4-0 with a 22-0 win over Geneseo. Brockport and Buffalo State, tied for second at 3-1, scored lopsided victories over RIT and St. John Fisher, respectively, to keep pace.

Collegiate Women's Division III East play finds Siena standing unblemished at 2-0. Oswego stands at 2-1, followed by Hamilton and Plattsburgh both at 1-1. St. Bonaventure continues to lead Women's Division III West at 2-0. Niagara stands at 1-1-1 after its 10-10 tie with Cornell B on Saturday. Le Moyne and William Smith are tied for third at 1-1.
