Claim NRU Division III Men's Club Title
Syracuse defeats Montclair, 29-26, in title match
SYRACUSE,
NY -- Syracuse beat Princeton in the quarterfinals at Burnet Park
in Syracuse 47-17. Syracuse started slowly with a 7-0 advantage at halftime.
After scoring a quick early try in second half, to gain a 14-0 advantage,
Princeton answered to close to 14-7. Syracuse then established control
of the game with a couple of tries, then pulled away for the victory.
Kyle Thomas was man-of-the-match.
At the Final Four in Albany, Syracuse exchanged kicks with Seacoast (NH)
in the first half on Saturday and went to the half down 6-3. Syracuse
scored a couple of tries in loose play in the second half and held Seacost
to one drop goal to pull out the victory and advance to the Finals against
Montclair. Man-of-the-match was Bob "Crash" Koller.
Against Montclair on Sunday, Syracuse again fell behind allowing a try
and a kick to close the first half down 16-10. Syracuse's forwards asserted
themselves with solid rucking in the second half to pull out the come-from-behind
victory. Chris Robyn was man-of-the-match.
