SYRACUSE, NY -- Five clubs representing the New York State Rugby Conference (NYSRC) will take part in the Northeast Rugby Union (NRU) Collegiate Championships this Saturday and Sunday in Amherst, Mass. The University of Massachusetts-Amherst is hosting the event.

Cornell's men's club, the third seed in Division I, will square off with No. 2 Northeastern on Saturday in the semifinals. Cornell advanced with a 46-17 win over UMass last weekend, while Northeastern defeated No. 7 Syracuse, 57-7. In the other Division I semifinal, No. 1 Army will meet No. 5 Norwich, which toppled Buffalo, 29-20, last Saturday.

Binghamton, the top seed in men's Division II, is coming off a 21-8 victory over Columbia in last Saturday's first-round match. Binghamton will meet No. 4 Coast Guard, a 30-18 victor over Siena, in the first semifinal. No. 3 Middlebury and No. 7 Colby will meet in the other.

Cortland is the No. 3 seed in men's Division III and will meet the New England No. 2 seed in the second semifinal on Saturday. No. 4 Vassar and New England No. 1 will meet prior.

In women's action, third-seeded Oneonta, is squaring off with New England No. 2 in the Division II semifinals. Oneonta claimed the seed with a 12-7 win over Brockport in the NYSRC Division II championship last weekend. In the first Division II semifinal, No. 4 Columbia faces NEFRFU No. 1.

Brockport earned the third seed in women's Division III, and will face New England No. 2. No. 4 Fordham and NEFRFU No. 1 meet in the first semifinal on Saturday.

The winners of each semifinal will meet on Sunday for the NRU Championship. The semifinal losers will match up in a qualifying match.
